UVAS management educate masses about the importance of pet vaccinations

The University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) observed World Rabies Day on Friday and arranged a walk, seminar, quiz competition, presentation on rabies and vaccination camp to mark the day in order to create awareness among public against rabies in its city campus.

UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha led the walk while UVAS Pro VC Professor Dr Masood Rabbani, UVAS Senior Tutor Professor Dr Kamran Ashraf, UVAS Pet Centre In-Charge Professor Dr Asim Khalid including a Chinese delegation and a large number of students and faculty members participated. UVAS Pet Centre started the camp by vaccinating a dog.

Later a seminar was held which was chaired by Professor Dr Masood Rabbani. A number of students and faculty members attended the seminar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Masood Rabbani said that UVAS Parasitology Department, Pet Centre, Epidemiology Department and the entire veterinary faculty is working actively for the prevention of deadly disease like rabies.

He said that being a veterinarian, it is our responsibility to perform our duty with honesty and full of dedication to protect our society from diseases and keep environment rabies free for the welfare of human being. He thanked Indus Hospital for working along with UVAS for the noble cause of saving animals from rabies and World Health Organisation for providing free rabies control vaccines.

He said that under this rabies-free training, Ravi Campus Pattoki students would be trained and familiarised with techniques and scientific methods for mass dog vaccination, how to work in rabies affected areas and handle stray dogs, catch dogs and how to use control poles for prevention of rabies.
