HYDERABAD: Tennis star Sania Mirza inaugurated a tennis academy for children under eight years of age.

Similar to Sania Mirza Tennis Acadmy project, Grassroot Level Academy has offered training classes for kids aged 3-8 years.

Sania Mirza’s mother had the idea of opening a training academy for and Sania took the liberty to turn her mother’s dream into a reality.

Sania has always believed that training should begin from a young age and she focuses on the fact that practice makes perfect. Sania has been training for past 10 years herself and she believes that long years of training are extremely essential for playing professionally.

According to sources, Sania stated, “This is for the grass-roots level of kids because tennis today is too competitive, it is important to start early because when you are eight or nine-years-old it’s already too late.”

Sania informed the media that the academy will serve as a platform that will teach children to use the racquet and hit the tennis ball. “As a tennis player I had a lot of difficulties knowing what to do and where to go as a child and how much to practice,” Sania added.

This is Sania’s second project after the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy (SMTA).“It is actually my mother and her friend’s idea and obviously we support it,” Sania stated.

Sania mentioned that she will be visiting and teaching at the institute more often as it is situated near her house.“The lessons will start slow, and build up in momentum,” she added.

“Here we are going to play with softballs, which is easier for kids to play with. It will be with colourful balls, which will make it more attractive for the kids to play,” Sania futher added.

Recently, Sania Mirza has appeared on Koffee with Karan show and discussed about her marriage, denying the marriage rumours.
