Dadu police bust gang wanted for 40 crimes

DADU: A notorious dacoit, Nissar Chandio, along with five accomplices, was arrested in what the police say was an encounter at Katcho area near Mehar on Friday. Police also claimed to have recovered weapons from the arrested men.

Dadu SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar and ASP city Rizwan Tariq announced this in a press conference.

They said a team of Dadu police led by CIA police station, Iftikhar Ahmed Jamali; and including SHO Borari police station, Tariq Lakhiar, and ASI Deedar had raided a hideout near Bhand Mari area in Katcho. Besides Nissar Ahmed Chandio, the team also managed to arrest Shahzado Chandio, Rakhio Samoo, Rashid Chandio, Rustam Chandio and Shaukat Kolachi.

Dadu SSP Shabbir Sethar told the media that police recovered a G-3, two Kalashnikov rifles and one other rifle and thousands of bullets from the possession of the arrested men. He said Nissar Chandio was wanted in 40 cases including murders, kidnappings and kidnapping for ransom. Sindh government had announced Rs1 million on Nissar Ahmed Chandios’ arrest as well as his killing in an encounter.

As soon as Nissar Chandio and his gang members were brought to SSP Dadu’s office, several policemen fired bullets in the air to “celebrate the arrest”. Dadu SSP later announced Rs200,000 each award for all members of the raiding team.
