SHIKARPUR: The Shikarpur Police on late Tuesday night retrieved body of a 12-year-old boy, who went missing on Monday, from a fish pond situated outside the Chanesar Mirani village in the precinct of the Napar-Kot police station in Shikarpur.

Reportedly, passersby alerted police immediately after spotting dead body of a boy identified as Muhammad Luqman Mirani.

Subsequently, local divers rushed to the pond and fished out the body.

Meanwhile, Mirani family members including Arbelo Khan, Hazoor Bux, Zahid Hussain, Khalid Hussain and others staged a demonstration demanding justice and blocked Kandhkot-Shikarpur Indus Highway.

They alleged that the boy was kidnapped, tortured and killed over an old enmity between Mirani and Jaffari tribesmen.

Later, protesters called off their demonstration following assurance from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sarfaraz Nawab Shaikh that all their demands would be fulfilled.

Police have started investigation into the incident.
