Our black locust plants will help solve your greenery issues: Jeno Nemeth

A delegation of a Hungarian company Silvanus Forestry led by its chief executive officer Jeno Nemeth called on the Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Khan to discuss modern commercial forestry techniques for low rainfall countries like Pakistan.

Climate Change Federal Secretary Khizar Hayat Khan, Forests Inspector General Syed Mahmood Nasir and other senior officials from the forest department were also present in the meeting.

Silvanus Forestry CEO Jeno Nemeth apprised the adviser to prime minister on climate change regarding the profile of his company Silvanus Forestry through a detailed presentation. The chair was told that the company has 30 years of experience in breeding of unique and fast growing varieties including black locusts which is ideally suited to low rainfall areas. The company has successfully tested plantations in Hungary and China and was now establishing a high technology laboratory at Balkasar in Pakistan to test black locusts and other fast growing species.

The delegates appreciated the vision of green Pakistan and hailed the 10 billion tsunami tree plantation project of Pakistan and expressed their desire to participate in this drive in a public private mode.

Malik Amin Aslam Khan said that “we are doing plantation in a more planned manner by keeping in view the adaptability of the varieties in accordance with soil conditions”.

Amin Aslam Khan thanked the delegation for their appreciation to environment friendly initiatives of the ministry and asked the Forests inspector general to have a meeting with the delegation to assess technical aspects for further collaboration in this regard.
