Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) President Muhammad Farooq Shekhani on Tuesday urged traders and industrialists to shun their differences and play a collective role to press bureaucracy for resolution of their critical issues.

Reportedly, he presided over a general body meeting with the new elected executive committee of HCSTSI to examine and tackle the multifaceted root causes of ongoing issues.

“Government needs to acknowledge significance of industrialists in terms of strengthening economy of the country and reducing unemployment,” Shekhani said while expressing profound concerns over formulation of economic policies by the government without taking business community into confidence.

He asserted that such ‘inefficient’ policies do not prevail or benefit the system.

“Small traders and industrialists do not require importing heavy machinery or expensive raw material,” he said, adding that industrialists were the actual ‘backbone of economy of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, he appealed to the government to hand over industrial plots in the SITE Extention in Hyderabad to respective allottees and include Hyderabad in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Earlier, HCSTSI former president Akram Ansari welcomed members and briefed them about two years of struggle in establishing a separate chamber.

Later, senior vice-president Sikendar Ali Rajput expressed his gratitude to all participants.

On the occasion, current members of the executive committee including vice president Daulat Ram Lohana, HCCI former presidents including Amin Khatri, Haji Yakoon and Saleem Umar were also present as guests of honour.
