Indian actress Twinkle Khanna, known for her roles in ‘Joru Ka Ghulam and Baadshah’, recently revealed that she finds Bollywood boring, reported an Indian publication. She expressed these views at an event held in Delhi last week. She also spoke about her latest book Pyjamas Are Forgiving, Bollywood and the ongoing #MeToo movement.

Addressing why she doesn’t write about Bollywood, Khanna said, “Bollywood is boring to me. I don’t write about it in my columns or short stories because I don’t find it interesting. I have seen it and why would I write about it. It is too familiar.”

She added that she always felt like she was a misfit in the industry. “I would be knitting on the sets of my films or reading. I was never interested in fitting in,” shared the 43-year-old.

Khanna continued that there was a time when she was also called a “tomboy” because people thought she talks like a man.

Discussing her film career, the Zulmi actor stated, “I have worn hideous costumes and I have said terrible lines. I have danced and done all the pelvic thrusts. But I learnt how to laugh at myself and I think that is one of the reasons why I am here. Now I hope people will forget Mela and remember me for my books.”

Speaking of her book and it’s correlation with the #MeToo movement, Khanna explained, “The book taps into the importance of consent and is in a way a ‘#MeToo book’.”

The former star’s first book titled Mrs Funnybones was released in 2015. A year later, she wrote The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. Pyjamas Are Forgiving marks her third book.
