Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Sindh governor Mumtaz Bhutto’s son Ameer Bux Bhutto has been appointed as the party’s new president for Sindh.

Reportedly, PTI Chairman Imran Khan gave the go-ahead to Mr Bhutto’s appointment as the party’s Sindh chapter president. Furthermore, PTI parliamentarian Haleem Adil Sheikh has been appointed as the party’s secretary general Sindh, while Khurram Sher Zaman as Karachi president.

Following their appointment, Amir Bakhsh Bhutto and Haleem Adil Sheikh jointly thanked Imran Khan for entrusting them with new organisational responsibilities. “We will fulfill all the expectations of our leadership,” they said, adding that they would organize the party on union council level in the next three months. “We will finish all the lacking in local bodies elections. Party workers are PTI main strength. We will give priority to our workers. We will work hard and convey the message of chairman PTI in each and every part of Sindh,” vowed the two PTI leaders.

A day earlier, leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi stepped down as the president of the PTI Karachi chapter. The PTI lawmaker said that he wanted to focus all his attention on resolution of the issues facing the province in his capacity as the opposition leader in the provincial legislature.
