GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) branch in Gujranwala on Sunday lodged FIRs (first information reports) against six suspects including five Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) officers over their alleged involvement in corruption and misuse of authority cases.
Reportedly, ACE Regional Director Fareed Ahmed told the media that a citizen Atif Chand Butt filed an application with the ACE accusing PHA officers including deputy director Munir Ahmed, assistant Ashfaq Sana Ullah, assistant director Zeeshan Akber, marketing inspector Zeeshan Mateen and their accomplice contractor Shafqat Ali caused a massive loss to the state exchequer in terms of ‘intentional’ mismanagement and irregularities by allowing hoardings in the city.
Initial investigations suggested sufficient evidence against the accused persons, and consequently FIRs have been lodged against them.
One Unity Founders secures majority in Chamber of Commerce elections
The One Unity Founders group has won majority of the corporate class seats in the elections of the Chamber of Commerce.
Reportedly, the group secured 275 votes out of the total 657, whereas the One Unity group could get 230 votes only.
Candidates of the winning group Abaid ur Rehman grabbed 350 votes, Afaq Ayub received 356, Amjad Khalil took 354, Kashif ur Rehman got 374, Muhammad Saleem Younas secured 356, Tayyab Mushtaq secured 352, Sameen Khan received 345 and Sheikh Asif Hussain got 356 votes.
The elections for the associate class are scheduled to be held on September 24.
Boy falls from roof, dies
A six-year-old boy slipped and fell to his death from atop of his house on Sunday at Rahwali area of Gujranwala.
Reportedly, Javed was playing on the rooftop when he suddenly slipped and fell unconscious on the ground of street.
He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Boy dead, mother and brother injured in road accident
A boy lost his life while his mother and brother sustained injuries in a fatal road accident on Dewan road in Gujranwala on Sunday.
Reportedly, 28-year-old Zain, along with his mother Razia and brother Zohaib, was travelling on a motorcycle when a speeding tractor rammed into their motorcycle.
Resultantly, Zain died on the spot, whereas Razia and Zohaib received severe injuries.
They were rushed to the DHQ Hospital for medical attention.
