KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said Altaf Hussain, Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are kings of corruption.

He was talking to media at the resident of PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh.

The Panama leaks are the biggest proof against Nawaz, he said, adding that Nawaz can only inaugurate projects but he could not escape from the Panamagate judgement. After the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision, the idol of corruption will break into pieces.

The fate of Pakistan depends on the SC’s verdict. “Panama case is not my [personal] fight it is the case of around 200 million Pakistanis.”

Kaptaan hoped that the hearing would resume from Monday.

“Ever since the Panama case has surfaced, Nawaz Sharif has been inaugurating projects,” he said, adding that he had never heard of an incomplete motorway being inaugurated.

The skipper lashed out at Nawaz over the letter to the Qatari prince, saying that everyone knows the letter is a lie.

“We will not remain silent on massive corruption in the country,” he added, “We will raise the corruption issues of rulers and go on public agitation.”

“We are waiting for Altaf Hussain’s accountability and justice,” he said. “Karachi is with the PTI now.”

All those who died in railway accidents were the responsibility of Railways Minister Saad Rafiq and he should immediately resign from his portfolio, Imran remarked.

Jirga and Panchayat system are better for Karachi for speedy justice, he opined.

The PTI could bring Sindh out of the quagmire, adding that rest of the political parties aimed at minting money, he added.

“Corruption is increasing due to absence of governance in Sindh. Massive corruption negates establishment of good governance in the province,” Kaptaan remarked.

The quality of governance could not be improved because officials give bribes to get postings of their choice. KP could get its due share in water, gas and electricity generation from the federal government, he pointed out.

The federation did not give rights to provinces in running the affairs, he added.

Separately, during a press conference at Dr Arif Alvi’s resident, Imran said the law and order in Karachi is unsatisfactory as there is no one to look after the affairs.

“Water mafia in Karachi is making money through corrupt means, and about 40 percent of the people are forced to consume water infiltrated with sewage and on high cost,” he said. “Karachi has become a stockpile of trash.”

Regarding the identity cards issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), he said many people in Karachi are deliberately kept away from getting a CNIC card. “Everyone has the right to NADRA cards,” he added.

“Be they Mohajir, Pakhtun or Bengali, people should have NADRA cards regardless of their ethnicity,” he added.

About China-cutting, he said it has taken over playgrounds of the metropolis.

Criticising the situation of Sindh at large, Imran said former president Asif Zardari does not visit Sindh frequently as his interests lie abroad.

“Although Rs70 billion has been spent on Larkana, it does not even look better than Mohenjo Daro.”

“The governor’s brother [Asad Umar] is present here so I will not use any harsh words against him (the governor).”

He vehemently criticised the use of developmental funds in Punjab, saying a huge chunk, 60 percent of the amount, has been spent on Lahore alone. “Moreover, the Punjab government has spent Rs 20 billion on advertisements.”

Earlier in the day, Imran was invited for breakfast at the residence of former Federal of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI), vice president Hanif Gohar.
