No system to inspect stent’s quality, reveals DRAP

ISLAMABAD: Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has revealed that there is no proper authority that can detect the quality of cardiac stents used in Pakistan.

DRAP Chief Dr Aslam also pointed out the absence of a proper system that could regulate the prices of stents used in procedures.

Furthermore, no proper system exists for the registration of medical devices within the country as stated by DRAP.

It has also been reported thatany kind of medical stents including stents are registered under the Drug Act.

DrAslam professed that a solution to the stent problem is only possible if there is a proper planning in this regard.
