Youm-e-Ashura observed amid strict surveillance and security

Youm-e-Ashura was observed peacefully with full religious solemnity and zest amid strict surveillance of security in the provincial metropolis on Friday.

Mourners commemorated the supreme sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions in the tragic incident of Karbala.

The main Zuljanah procession of Youm-e-Ashura was taken out from Nisar Haveli located inside Walled City after Thursday midnight and concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah after completing its traditional route on Friday.

Hundreds of police personnel and volunteers were deputed for the protection of participants and to avoid any untoward incident. The procession entered in Karbala Gamay Shah after covering many areas and passing through Imam Bargah Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Chowk Nawab Sahib, Koocha Qazi Khana, Imam Bargah Molvi Feroz Ali, Koocha Miskeena, Mohalla Peer Gillani, Imam Bargah Syed Rajab Ali Shah, Chauhatta Mufti Baqir, Chowk Kotwali, Kashmiri Bazaar, Sonehri Masjid, Dabbi Bazaar, Gumtti Bazaar, Rang Mahal Chowk, Syed Mittha Bazaar, Tehsil Bazaar, Bazaar Hakimaan, Ucchi Mosque and Bhatti Chowk.

Dozens of small processions also joined the main procession on its route during that time period. It is pertinent to mention that tazia was also carried out in Saddar Bazaar.

Participants offered prayers during the procession and indulged in mourning and chest-beating in memory of Karbala incident.

On the occasion, scholars highlighted the Karbala history and also shed light on the great sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain and the esteemed martyrs of Karbala who sacrificed their lives for the cause of truth and Islam. All processions and majalis administration followed the scheduled timings and concluded their programmes on time to maintain the law and order situation.

District administration appreciated licence holders of procession and majalis for cooperating and following the schedule timings.
