Author: Staff Report

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday that peace is the only guarantee for the humankind to prosper and thrive, adding that violence and terrorism are the major threats to international peace.

In his message on the International Peace Day, the PPP chairman stressed that the world has to act against injustices, atrocities, and discrimination among humans and exploitation of the poor, downtrodden and voiceless people to achieve the greater goal of peace on the planet.

Bilawal said that international community should promote and encourage democracies in developing countries to augment equality and fairness among societies faced with discontents, confrontations and conflicts of different nature. Protecting human rights of all people is also individual as well as collective responsibility of all nations, he added.

The United Nations is celebrating the International Peace Day with the theme – The Right to Peace: 70th years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

PPP chairman said that Pakistan has suffered immensely as we have lost thousands of our civilians and soldiers. He also recalled his mother’s assassination and said that she was the Muslim world’s only twice-elected prime minister and she gave her life for the cause of strengthening democracy.

Bilawal pledged that his party will continue its struggle for peace in the country as well as in the whole world, serving the masses to remove poverty and injustice, and promoting equality and harmony among the people.

Separately, the PPP chairman expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the mother of former PPP MNA from Sargodha, Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi. In a condolence message, Bilawal prayed to the Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the members of bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
