ISLAMABAD: National Democratic Foundation (NDF) Chairman and former Election Commission of Pakistan Federal Secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has stated that the NDF has critically analysed the draft Elections Reforms Bill and found several flaws in it. “It considers that with the present bill no transparency and efficiency will come in the current electoral process. It has raised eight points in the reforms bill, and given 25 recommendations for its improvement to the chairman of the Electoral Reforms Committee, Ishaq Dar.”
In a statement, he said that the NDF plans to organise a press conference at the earliest opportune time to brief the media and public at large.
Dilshad further said that according to the press briefing of Chief Statistician Asif Bajwa, NADRA has issued CNICs to 130 million people, whereas, according to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2016, the population of the country is 193 million. Furthermore, “there are over 7 million expats who are not being considered by the census commission”, he said. He questioned that if refugees could be included in census then why not expat Pakistanis. “Further, NADRA, Election Commission of Pakistan and the census commission use different terminologies of making census bloc and wards.”
