UPPER DIR: Jamaat-e-Islami’s education wing Tanzim-e-Asatiza Pakistan (TAP) Upper Dir chapter has rejected the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KP) government’s decision to introduce the co-education system at the primary level and vowed that the TAP would soon start a moment against the bill.
District President of the TAP Upper Dir chapter, Bakhtiar Zamin, said that the PTI wanted to introduce a western system of education in KP. He said that co-education in our province even in Pakistan at school level cannot be imagined. He alleged that the government had adopted a double standard in the bill about co-education. In the same bill which had been tabled in the provincial assembly the government had includef to declare Nazira Quran and its translation which was the most important thing and according to the Islamic point of view compulsory, he mentioned.
However, he added, that the second part of the bill was the most dangerous resolution which could not be imagined especially in a Muslim country and society. “The bill if passed would create serious differences between male and female degree holders of the province,” said Bakhtiar Zamin.
He said that the KP government was not realising that the decision would have a negative impact on immature students. He said that in the backward and mountainous districts of the province even adult students both boys and girls were present in grade 4th and 5th and even in 3rd class in some areas. How they could get education in the same class and school. “It is against our religion and tradition and we will never allow such a decision in government run educational institutes in KP.
He said that the government should establish separate boys and girls primary schools in each and every village to promote and enhance literacy rate in the province. He said that the TAP demanded of the KP government to revise the bill and exclude the part of co-education from the bill otherwise they would give a call for strike and demonstration across the province if the government did not accept their demand.
