Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid rich tribute to Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto on his 22nd martyrdom anniversary on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that twenty-two years have passed, but Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto, like the others martyrs of Bhutto family, had yet to receive justice from courts. He said that under a notorious scheme for toppling an elected democratic government, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto was martyred, adding that the people were well aware of the conspiracies hatched against the PPP and that was why they had always remembered the martyrs of Gadhi Khuda Bux and defeated the forces of evil.

Bilawal said that the martyrdom of Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto is an unforgettable chapter in history of democracy and civilian supremacy in Pakistan and that the history is itself a judge.

Separately, the PPP chairman said that democracy is the only guarantee for a stronger and prosperous Pakistan.

He said this in his message on the occasion of World Democracy Day, which is commemorated across the world in September.

Bilawal said that democracy is the essence of the history of humankind and despite the fact that democracy is the best form of government, it is still weak as compared to authoritarian forces in many countries of the world and especially in the third world. However, the humankind is destined to overcome the dictatorial forces and enable democracy to prevail.

The PPP chairman said that there were still a lot of challenges to be overcome in Pakistan for the consolidation of the democratic system.

He said that besides these challenges, extremism and terrorism were also two big menaces that had jeopardised the peace of the world, and in Pakistan, because a handful of terrorists do not want to see peace and tranquility in the world. Peace and tranquility is tantamount to elimination of the extremist and terrorist forces, he said.

Bilawal reiterated his firm resolve for transforming Pakistan into a real federal democratic Muslim state as per the ideology of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

He vowed the PPP would take the struggle to its logical end and won’t hesitate from any sacrifices.
