Police arrest notorious criminal in encounter near Kot Diji

A notorious criminal was arrested on Wednesday after he was injured in a police encounter near Kot Diji town of Khairpur district.

Reportedly, the Kot Diji Police Station House Officer (SHO) Shoukat Ali informed the media that police raided on suspected hideout of a gang of criminals, and succeeded to arrest a wanted criminal Allah Bux alias Mumtaz Jamali.

Meanwhile, police seized a stolen pistol from his possession.

He was wanted to Larkana, Sukkur and Khairpur police in various heinous crimes.

Mirpur Mathelo Bar Association boycotts court proceedings against dams’
constructions

The Mirpur Mathelo Taluka Bar Association on Wednesday organised a demonstration against constructions of the Diamer-Bhasha and Kalabagh dams on the Indus River.

Reportedly, dozens of lawyers including bar association’s president Mumtaz Ali Naich, advocate Talib Hussain, Naeem Veesar gathered in front of the Civil Court in Mirpur Mathelo town of Ghotki district.

They chanted full-throat slogans and refuted the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s stance in this regard.

Meanwhile, they boycotted court proceedings and demanded cancellations of dams’ construction and citizenships to Afghan refugees and Bengali immigrants.

Youth shot dead by ‘unidentified’ men in Khanpur Mahar town

A youth was shot dead on Wednesday allegedly by unidentified assailants in Khanpur Mahar town of Ghotki district.

Reportedly, Khanpur Mahar police station officers informed the media that unidentified armed men broke into Ghulam Muhammad Pitafi’s house in Ghous Bux Pitafi village and opened fire on his son identified as Ashiq Ali Pitafi.

Resultantly, he died on the spot. Meanwhile, police shifted his body to the Taluka Hospital Khanpur Mahar for autopsy.

The cause of murder could not be ascertained while police have started investigation into the incident.
