I wanted to buy you a guitar,

So you could intertwine your words with a tune

But as I walked to the store,

Life came my way

Daddy said he found the pills,

That I had hid yesterday,

Your birthday came along,

I wanted to show you how much I love you

But as I walked out the door,

Mommy found out about you

These bruises painted on my skin,

Won’t stop my bleeding heart,

I’ll come one day, I’ll play my part,

We built this house of love together

And you kept it safe while I was away,

It isn’t all that lovely, you know

Some paint chipped off as the food went bad today
