DERA GHAZI KHAN: Fake healers (Aamils) allegedly tortured a woman to death on the suspicion of spiritual possession in Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday.
The woman was taken to the Aamils, residing in the Shujaatabad area of Dera Ghazi Khan for exorcism. The suspects responsible for her death were identified as Amanullah and Abdul Hameed.
The victim’s husband, Sajjad, said the fake Pirs conducted exorcism by tying his wife upside down in a tree and hitting her with clubs. He said that he asked the fake healers to stop but they lent no ear to his plaintive pleas.
The woman had subsequently been shifted to a local teaching hospital after her condition deteriorated; however she eventually succumbed to her injuries.
Police said a case would be registered against the suspects after a post-mortem report was issued.
