Saudi Arabia likely to grant billion dollars economic package to Pakistan

Saudi Arabia is expected to grant a special economic package to Pakistan in order to rescue its crippling economy during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to the kingdom.

Highly placed official sources confided to Daily Times that the issue would come under discussion during talks between Saudi King Salman and PM Imran Khan.

Sources said Saudi economic facility would be in shape of oil supply approximately eight billions of USD which would ease Pakistan’s foreign payments pressure to large extend.

The prime minister left for Jeddah along with his high powered delegation on Tuesday afternoon for a two-day visit.

He is accompanied by the ministers for foreign affairs, finance and Information and adviser to the PM on commerce.

Senior officials from foreign office and PM office are also part of the delegation.

Foreign office spokesman Dr. Muhammad faisal told Daily Times that PM is under taking the visit on the invitation of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.

This is the first ever foreign visit of the prime minister since he assumed the office.

Sharing details of the visit, the spokesman said during the visit PM Imran would call on Saudi King Salman and hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince Muhammad.

Bilateral relations, regional security situation including Middle East situation and issues confronting Muslim Ummah would also come under discussion.

The King will also host a state banquet for the PM Imran and his delegation at the Royal Court. Accompanying ministers and members of the delegation will also meet their counterparts to discuss bilateral cooperation.

The prime minister will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Minister for Finance Asad Umer and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce.

During the visit, the Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, will also meet PM Imran.

The spokesman said after completion of Saudi visit PM Imran along with delegation would depart for UAE.
