A resolution was submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Monday condemning the sad incident in which a transgender was allegedly burnt alive by unidentified persons in Sahiwal few days ago.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmaker Hina Pervaiz Butt said in the resolution that the state is bound to provide equal rights to every citizen of the country according to the Constitution of Pakistan and it should be the top priority of the state to safeguard the lives and properties of every citizen.

“The incidents of murders of transgender community have been increased in the recent past and it is really an unbearable act,” the resolution says, while adding that such incidents are symbols of illiteracy and ignorance in the society.

“This House demands immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the murder of the transgender to avoid such incidents in the future,” said the resolution.

A transgender was allegedly burnt alive by some unidentified persons at a cab stand in Sahiwal a few days ago and not a single accused is arrested so far.
