LAHORE: The five-day parole granted to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime head Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Muhammad Safdar will end today.

Nawaz, Maryam, and Safdar, who were sentenced to 10 years, 7 years and 1 year respectively in prison in Avenfield case were granted parole by the Punjab government over the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who passed away last week after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Nawaz, Maryam, and Capt (r) Safdar will go back to Rawalpindi via a special flight from the Lahore airport.

According to the sources, three members of the Sharif family, namely Hamza Shehbaz, Salman and Yousuf Abbas, have been granted permission to accompany them to the airport.

The parole period will end in the evening after which they will be transferred to Adiala jail.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) leader Shehbaz Sharif, has been granted a permission to accompany them on the special flight to Rawalpindi, the sources added.

The Express News had reported that it is expected that the three might write an application to the provincial government requesting to grant a 5-day extension in parole.

However, later PML-N leader Tanveer Hussain denied such reports.

A picture of Nawaz meeting his mother before leaving has been shared via the PML-N official twitter account.

Former first lady Kulsoom Nawaz was laid to rest at her family’s Jati Umra estate on Friday after a funeral prayer attended by hundreds of thousands of people, including leaders of ruling and opposition parties and workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

The prayer was led by Tableegi Jamaat’s Maulana Tariq Jameel, who was driven to the venue, Sharif Medical Complex, by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar have been released from Adiala Jail on parole to join Begum Kulsoom’s burial rites. Nawaz’s younger brother and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif also came in the same car.
