A six-member Chinese academic delegation, led by Chinese Administration Institute (CAI) Vice President Wang Yi visited Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to explore the ways and means for promoting bilateral collaboration in the educational sector.

The delegation showed particular interest in areas like school management, administrative management and civil service training.

While praising the university’s country-wide academic network, CAI Vice President Wang Yi said there are bright prospects for the two sides developing their cooperative partnership by providing training to their respective faculty in specific areas of interest.

AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui, while welcoming the visiting guests, said that AIOU was looking forward to provide academic support to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through mutual collaborations with Chinese educational institutions.

He said the AIOU is in process of setting up three language and cultural institutes in Gwadar, Lahore and Islamabad.

This is a major initiative from their side for professional development of the staff, engaged in CPEC-related projects.

Earlier, AIOU International Collaboration & Exchange Office Coordinator Dr Zahid Majeed gave a presentation on the academic profile of the university. AIOU Social Sciences Dean Dr Samina Awan and other senior academic staff of the university were also present on the occasion.
