Minister takes notice of corruption in Revenue dept, summons report

Sindh Minister for Revenue and Relief Makhdoom Mehboob Zaman took notice of media reports regarding corruption in the Revenue Department and warned the officials to mend their ways.

In a statement issued on Sunday, minister Makhdoom Mehboob said that the elements involved in malpractices were harming the government structure and they did not deserve any concession. He further said that strict action would be taken against officials involved in corruption.

It is worth mentioning that a protest demonstration was held against Revenue Department during which the protesters claimed that officials Mukhtiarkar Qasimabad office demanded bribes for the completion of every task. The protestors said that corruption was on its peak in all revenue offices of Hyderabad. They said that employees of Mukhtiarkar Qasimabad office received Rs12, 000 to Rs 15, 000 to issue certificates while the original government fee was just Rs500.

The Minister Revenue directed the revenue secretary to probe the complaints and submit a report as soon as possible. “We cannot tolerate acts of corruption or disobedience since they tarnish the reputation of the entire revenue department,” said the minister. “All black sheep of the department will be held accountable for their actions and their services will be terminated,” added minister Zaman.

Makhdoom Mehboob Zaman assured the estate agents that their issues and complains will be addressed soon.
