Inquiries against sub-registrars recommended

KARACHI: The Deputy Commissioner, East Karachi, Asif Jan Siddiqui has recommended anti corruption investigations against at least seven sub-registrars who are involved in illegal leases, sub-lease, sale deeds etc, Daily Times has learnt.

In this regard, DC East has forwarded a letter to Commissioner, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Senior Member Board of Revenue with a request to initiate stern investigations against the sub-registrars who are consistently violating the Registration Act and the Board of Revenue notifications, a copy of which is exclusively available with Daily Times.

“It is submitted that the Assistant Commissioners & Mukhtiarkars of District Karach East have informed that the sub registrars are not implementing the Amendments in Registration Act, Notifications of Board of Revenue Sindh and Judicial Order of the Learned Commissioner Karachi division in letter and spirit and causing huge financial losses to the government exchequer, by excluding fees fixed by the government”.

“It is further submitted that various organizations like KDA, KMC, Katchi Abadis Cooperative Societies and private land owners possess excess government land and have violated the terms and condition of lease grant.”

“This same issue was communicated to the Inspector General Registration, District Registrar Karachi and Sub Registrars of District Karachi East from time to time, but it is regretted to point out here that the Sub Registrars of District East Karachi are still executing leases, sub-leases, sale deeds etc in violation of amended Registration Act, Judicial Order of the learned Commissioners Karachi Division dated 13.1.2016 and the notification of Board of Revenue Sindh; causing huge loss to the government exchequer”, revealed the letter.

“In view of the above, it is recommended that inquiry against the sub-registrars of District East may kindly be ordered also being Chairman of the Anti Corruption Committee-II; through Anti Corruption Establishment in the interest of Government”, it concluded.
