Pakistan has drafted a strongly worded resolution against the ongoing Indian atrocities in the Held Kashmir, which would be tabled at a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact group on Kashmir in New York on September 26.

Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Faisal said this would be an extraordinary session of the OIC contact group on Kashmir on the sidelines of the UNGA which has been convened to discuss the current situation in the occupied valley.

The resolution highlights the current wave of terrorism by Indian forces in the Held Kashmir and calls upon the international community and the UN to take practical steps for an urgent solution to the issue. “The meeting would be attended by AJK leadership as well as Hurriyat leaders from the Indian-held Kashmir, provided Indian government permits them to travel,” the spokesman said, adding that the meeting would take place at the UN headquarters and all members of the OIC contact group will attend.

In addition to this, Pakistan will also raise the Kashmir issue at the UNGA where Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would deliver his speech. Qureshi will also raise the Kashmir issue during meetings with his counterparts from other countries. “The resolution which will be adopted at the OIC contact group will be handed over to the UN secretary general’s representative for record,” the spokesman said.
