Pakistan is my second home: Shabnam

KARACHI: Jharna Basak widely known by her stage name Shabnam on Thursday said she considered Pakistan as her second home.

Shabnam is a famous actress of Bangladesh who has extensively worked for Lollywood. She was introduced in Pakistan film industry by celebrated actor late Waheed Murad.

Shabnam was married to a Bangladeshi playback singer and music composer Robin Ghosh.

She has arrived in Karachi on a visit to Pakistan. Talking to media at Quaid-e-Azam International Airport she said it was for the first time she had come Pakistan alone in 50 years. “In each step, I can feel solitude. We spent 50 years in company.”

Robin Ghosh who died last February aged 76 sang and composed music for Lollywood flicks between 1961 to 1986.

Shabnam expressed joy over improvement in Pakistani film industry and prayed that it grooms further. She also extended her service and said if she was given a role in a film, she would play it.

“Pakistani film industry is hustling in the right direction which is welcoming. New generation is playing their due role which will benefit the industry,” she said.

She also apprised the media that Indian films were banned in Bangladesh.

The veteran actress said she was on a one month visit to Pakistan and she would also go to Lahore where she had many friends.
