Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, on Friday, impressed upon civic bodies to ensure implementation of biometric system in their respective department without any further delay.
While visiting offices of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Development Authority (KDA), Katchi Abadis Department, Lyari Development Authority (LDA) and other civic body offices minister Saeed Ghani asked their officials to install biometric system as soon as possible and sent him daily attendance reports.
He made also made an appeal to the general public to reach these offices early in the morning and get their work done. Saeed Ghani remarked during his visit that the ratio of attendance at KDA and SBCA offices was comparatively better. He warned that all officers and employees of local government departments should be at their offices by 9 am.
At the Katchi Abadis department, the minister for local government was given a briefing on the operations of the land department by its head. Minister Saeed Ghani said that due to his surprise visits, the attendance of employees had improved. “With the presence of employees, the delivery of services to public would become a lot better,” he commented.
He also directed KDA officials to take steps for auctioning junk of vehicles parked in the Civic Centre premises opposite SBCA. Talking to journalists at KWSB and other offices he said now he would continue to raid at local government offices till attendance rate touched 100 percent. Ghani said those who would not reach at their offices in time would be penalised as per law.
Saeed Ghani further said that all powers had been given to Karachi Mayor under SLGO-2013 and the Mayor should try to improve his own performance and increase revenues of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). To another question regarding bringing change in SLGO, he said that his party could go to Sindh Assembly and change Local Government Act as it had now became an Act through initiative of the assembly.
