Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will leave for Afghanistan tomorrow on a one-day tour.
Following US Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo’s visit to Pakistan on Sep 5, Qureshi had said that he would pay his first visit to Afghanistan. Pompeo had asked Pakistan to help his country bring Talibans to talks.
Qureshi will hold delegation-level talks with his counter part in Afghanistan. During the meeting, bilateral ties and matters pertaining to regional security will be discussed.
Pakistan’s foreign minister will also raise the issues of border management and cross border terrorism with Afghanistan.
The foreign minister will also meet Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani during his trip.
Afghanistan has also invited Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit the country. However, the prime minister has said he will not be going anywhere in first three months of his government.
