Cinemas and theatres to be shut down on Muharram 9-10

In respect of Muharram, all cinemas and theatres of the metropolitan city will remain closed on September 20-21.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (r) Anwarul Haq has issued a notification on Thursday, directing all the owners of theatres and cinemas to ensure that their doors are closed otherwise strict action would be taken against them.

Meanwhile, he said that Rescue 1122 would also organise outstanding arrangements on the occasion of Muharram 9-10 processions for which it had submitted its comprehensive plan at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

“There will be deployment of as many as 50 ambulances in different points of the city along with the full functionality of 226 motorbike ambulances. More than 18 fire brigade vehicles will move with the processions,” he added.

Similarly, he disclosed that Rescue 1122 would also set up 50 posts at different points. Moreover, to review the arrangements in connection with majalis and processions during Muharram, he paid visits to Pando Street, Thokar Niaz Baig and Shadman imam bargahs. He was accompanied by the city assistant commissioner and officers of Lahore Waste Management Company, Water & Sanitation Authority, Health, Lahore Electric Supply Company, Sui Gas and others.

On the other hand, District Administration Lahore has been continuing its anti-quackery operation in the provincial metropolis. District Deputy Officer Ravi Zone Dr Syed Sarfaraz paid a visit to Latif Park area where he traced a quack practicing illegally in Subhani Clinic & Medical Store. He also traced used injections and allopathic medicines which had been confiscated and the premises had been sealed.

A case against fake doctor Faiz Ahmed has been forwarded to the Punjab Health Care Commission for further necessary action.
