Pakistani officials join in Iranian revolution’s 38th celebrations

ISLAMABAD: Iranian consulates across Pakistan on Friday celebrated the 38th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, marked as the National Day of Iran.

According to Iranian media, Iranian consulates in Quetta and Peshawar hosted ceremonies which were largely attended by local officials, parliamentarians, Sunni and Shia clerics along with businessmen and traders.

Balochistan Governor Mahmood Khan Achakzai, as the chief guest of the Quetta ceremony, congratulated the Iranian consulate and the people of Iran on the occasion.

He praised Iran-Pakistan friendship, adding that the Chabahar and Gwadar ports were not rivals but positioned to be complementary to each other.

He also appreciated Iran for joining in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Consulate General in Quetta Mohammad Rafiee highlighted the achievements of the Islamic Revolution and reiterated the need for increasing cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in all fields.

In addition, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, at the Peshawar ceremony, said that Iran and Pakistan were tied in an eternal bond of friendship.

He congratulated the people and government of Iran on the 38th anniversary of their victory. Jhagra also expressed confidence in a bright future for their bilateral friendship.

Iranian consulate general in Peshawar, Mohammad Bagher Beigi underlined the revolution’s achievements and reiterated the need for further strengthening Iran-Pakistan ties.

The Iranian embassy also hosted a large celebration in Islamabad on the occasion.
