A bid to smuggle 0.754million Saudi Riyals from Pakistan to Afghanistan was foiled by the Khasadar officials at Torkham border on Wednesday.

The administration official told the media that the Khasadar officials were busy in their routine checking when they stopped an Afghanistan-bound fruit loaded truck bearing the registration number KBL-78159 for examination. During the search, Saudi currency worth 0.754million was found in various hidden cavities of the vehicle, he added.

Both the driver and conductor of the truck, identified as Bahar Muhammad and Muhammad Ishaq, were Afghan citizens. The Khasadar officials arrested them and sent them to Landi Kotal prison for further investigation, the sources said.

Since long, the illegal transfer of foreign currency from Pakistan to Afghanistan through the Torkham border had been adversely affecting Pakistan’s national economy and mostly the Afghan nationals were involved in these unlawful activities, an official said.
