KARACHI: Police on Friday arrested seven criminals during separate raids in the city.
Police arrested the notorious drug peddler Hanif alias Pankha in Nazimabad area and recovered drugs and a TT pistol from him.
SHO Nazimabad said that a case has been registered against the accused.
Mouchko police conducted a raid at Ghafoor Chowk near Muhaach Goth and arrested five people.
Sources said that the suspects were involved in gambling. Police officer Babar Hameed said that gambling items and cash worth Rs 15,000 were recovered from the suspects.
Separately, Al-Falah police arrested a drug peddler identified as Javed Irani in an injured condition after an encounter near Malir Nadi, Azeempura graveyard.
SSP Korangi informed that the accused was arrested while his two accomplices managed to flee from the scene.
A pistol, a motorcycle and sizable quantity of drugs were recovered from his possession, he added.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) called on IG of Police, Sindh, at the CPO.
The delegation briefed the IG regarding their concerns about security and land mafia.
The IG directed to the SSPs to enhance security in the city and take immediate action against the land mafia.
He directed that the security be ensured around mosques and Imambargah’s in the city.
The IG also ordered deployment of security personnel at the entrances of the police stations.
