LHC dismisses contempt notice against Ahsan Iqbal

Author: Staff Report

The Lahore High Court on Monday withdrew a contempt notice issued to former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal and accepted his apology.

A three-member bench accepted the apology submitted by Iqbal and ordered the erstwhile information minister to refrain from making anti-judiciary statements in the future. “You should be a role model for your people,” Justice Atir Mahmood remarked.

“I will be more careful in the future,” Iqbal said in his response. “You should make positive contributions for the country. The politics of opposing one another should now come to an end,” Justice Naqvi further remarked.
