Yom-e-Ashur would be observed on September 21 as the moon for the month of Muharram could not be sighted today, said the the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman.
Muneeb, after chairing a special meeting for the moon sighting, said no testimony of moon sighting was received from any part of the country. 1st Muharram will fall on Wednesday Sep 12, he added.
The meeting was attended by members of zonal moon sighting committees. Officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Pakistan Meteorological Department were also there at this occasion.
Muslims all over the world observe Ashura on 8, 9 and 10th of Muharram to pay tribute to the great martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS).
