ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar said on Monday that the nation has deviated from Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision.

Justice Nisar was addressing the Full Court Reference organised on the start of the new judicial year today.

“Injustice has saturated in our society but the judiciary has tried to give justice in fundamental rights,” CJP remarked. “Numerous national and human rights issues were heard in the previous judicial year,” Justice Nisar said.

Talking about dam funds, apex court judge said that the court wanted to shift the focus of the government to build the dams. CJP further appreciated the public’s enthusiasm towards the dam construction.

CJ apprised, “At least 19 thousand cases were resolved in the previous judicial year, which is the highest ratio in five years, but,” he added, “the number of pending cases nevertheless increased slightly.”

In order for justice to be served to the people, the supremacy of law and transparency is key, Justice Nisar further added.
