ISLAMABAD: Former lawmaker Nabeel Gabol on Saturday said Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif intends to hold general polls in June 2017 and he is trying to divert public opinion in his favour through surveys of choice.

Talking to Daily Times, he said “I am feeling personally from Panama case hearing that Nawaz Sharif will not be affected personally from it because he has moved his children on the front. The possibilities for sacrifice of the two sons and daughter Maryam Nawaz in Panama case are visible. However the possibility is there that sacrifice of Maryam will be a major sacrifice in Panama case because all the evidences in money trial are going against PM’s children.”

“If Maryam is affected it will deal a major blow to the politics of Nawaz Sharif, because Nawaz Sharif had completed all the homework to launch Maryam. Therefore, Maryam remained at centre state in the sitting PML-N government, but the impending decision of Panama case will cause tremendous damage to PML-N,” he remarked

“In my view time has come that Imran Khan should forge electoral alliance for next general elections because government is working with all interest for holding general elections in June, 2017. Therefore, PML-N government and Nawaz Sharif are being presented as most popular politician through surveys of their own choice. If PPP and PTI contest general elections by forging alliance then it can create enormous difficulties for PML-N.”

“I consider Dawn Leaks more dangerous than Panama case because report on Dawn leaks is lying on the table of the interior minister after having been finalised. He is hesitating to issue it deliberately,” he said, adding that as per my information the government is on the way to give sacrifice of weaker souls to protect the “big guns”.

The act of not making public this report can be disastrous for democracy, he held.

Commenting on political scenario in Sindh, he said the activities of politicians have reached peaks in Dubai for a change in Sindh. Former president Pervez Musharraf is playing a vital role for merger of MQM-Pakistan and Pak Sarzameen Party. He added a group of strong candidates is also being formed which can win the polls in Sindh. This grand alliance can create difficulties for PPP, Gabol concluded.
