Punjab, KP and Sindh get new police chiefs

The federal government on Friday appointed new police chiefs of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces.

“BPS-21 officer of PSP Kaleem Imam has been transferred and posted as inspector general of police Sindh,” a notification issued by the federal government says.Imam was made police chief of Punjab province by the caretaker government ahead of the July 25 general election.

Sindh’s current IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi has been asked to report to the Establishment Division.

Another BPS-21 PSP officer, Muhammad Tahir, has been posted as new police chief of Punjab. He was earlier serving as IGP of KP. He brings with him the task of introducing reforms in the Punjab police in order to eradicate corruption from the force as well as make it people-friendly.

Salahuddin Mehsud, an officer of BPS-21, has been appointed as new IGP of KP. He was serving as an officer on special duty (OSD) in the Establishment Division. He has served as IGP of KP during the last PTI government in the province, but was made an OSD ahead of the recently held general elections.
