Author: Malik Wasil

Considering the upward trend of submitting bogus applications for black mailing purposes, the Anti Corruption Establishment, on Friday, decided to introduce a new procedure under which the applicant would have to give an affidavit on stamp paper against any individual about the genuineness of his allegations.

The regional director of Anti Corruption Establishment told the media that it was observed within the department that some habitual applicants were always in practice to give applications against some government officers and contractors just to blackmail them. These applicants, after having a deal with the accused party, withdraw their applications which caused wastage of time for the anti corruption officials, he added.

He further added that the director general of Anti Corruption Establishment Punjab recently decided to introduce a new procedure for submitting applications against the government officers/officials or contractors etc. Under this new procedure, every applicant would have to submit an affidavit on stamp paper that the allegations leveled by him were genuine, he could prove those allegations during investigations and if he withdrew his application at any stage then the Anti Corruption Department could take action against him according to the rules. The applicants would have to produce two witnesses to prove their allegations while an attested copy of CNIC and a photograph of the applicant should also be attached with the application.

Demonstration held against security guards

Dozens of citizens staged a demonstration in front of the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital against torture at a young boy by the hospital security guard. The protesters chanted slogans against the hospital administration and alleged that the hospital security guards were habitual to treat the citizens in a rough manner and increasing torture incidents in DHQ hospitals proved that such security guards had full support of the hospital administration because no action was taken against any guard in the past. The protesters alleged that recently the security guards not only tortured a youth by locking him in a room but also registered a case against him. The protestors demanded the high ups to take action against the matter and the security guards, if found guilty, should be punished so that such incidents could be avoided in future.
