ISLAMABAD: The Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi has said that the commission would soon prepare a comprehensive plan for promotion of investment activities in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said this while speaking to a delegation from Karakoram Cooperative Bank Ltd led by Minister for Planning and Development in Gilgit-Baltistan, Iqbal Hassan.
The chairman said Gilgit-Baltistan could play a vital role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative and the SECP would take steps to facilitate the local businesses as well other entities that aspire to operate in GB.
Iqbal Hassan gave a brief overview of the Karakoram Cooperative Bank Ltd. The delegation showed keen interest in mutual funds, investment opportunities in capital markets and leasing businesses. The delegation also sought the SECP’s support in expanding capital market outreach to the GB.
