KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended two political workers of MQM-L for their involvement in targeted killings of rival political party’s workers few days back in Orangi Town neighbourhood of Karachi, suspects were also engaged with south African network of terrorism and the LEA has collected their record of terror funding.
The alleged killers were accused of being involved in targeted killing of two Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) workers, namely Abdul Majeed alias Nadeem Mullah and Arshad alias Lal Khan in Orangi Town neighbourhood on July 17th.
The arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by the Rangers spokesperson Colonel Qaiser Khattab at Rangers Headquarters in Karachi on Wednesday evening.
The target killers arrested were identified as Muhammad Rahim and Muhammad Danish who had been in contact through Whatsup with the MQM-L’s setup in South Africa at the time of the incident. “The target killers arrested belonged to MQM-L and they were tasked by South Africa network’s militants including Qamarul Islam alias Teddy alias Waseem Bhai (code name Abdullah) about a month ago to complete this swift operation,” Colonel Khattak revealed. “Weapons and a motorcycle used in the killings in Orangi have also been recovered from them.”
The Rangers official said that the target killers were conveyed a message from South Africa via Whatsapp, adding that the MQM-L founder Altaf Hussain also commended the accused for successfully carrying out the task.
The suspects had been transferred a reward of Rs50,000 through a bank account from South Africa. The arrested target killers had also been involved in wall chalking in favour of MQM-L chief. The accused had told the investigators names of MQM-L chief, Nadeem Nusrat, Qamar Teddy and Babu Bhai.
A special team had been constituted to arrest the killers of the two people in Orangi, adding that the two target killers have been arrested while some of their associates on their backup support would also be arrested soon.
“We have also found the voice messages in the suspects’ mobile phones in which Abdullah has congratulated to them on behalf of MQM-L founder,” the officer explained. “In the second voice message, Altaf Hussain congratulated to the South Africa network for carrying out the target killing of PSP workers with the help of their operatives in Karachi.”
Besides this, the suspects arrested also revealed to have been involved in various cases of target killings on behest of MQM-L leadership, adding that the arrested suspects along with their comrades were also involved in spreading the anti-Pakistan, anti-army and law enforcement agencies material as well as involved in wall chalking in favour of Altaf Hussain in Karachi.
“The arrested suspects also revealed the names of the absconding associates who on the orders of MQM-L leaderships including Altaf Hussain, Nadeem Nusrat, Qamarul Islam Teddy alias Waseem Bhai, Abdul Rasheed alias Babu Bihari and Abdullah were planning to carryout attacks on the central leaders of the different political parties,” he explained.
“The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh wants to give a message to the anti-state elements at London and South Africa that time has gone when people were being killed here in Karachi and city used to close down on one phone call. The citizens of Karachi and people living abroad have rejected them and the evidence of it that the passerby witnesses helped us to probe this case. We are keeping our eyes on such elements and will tackle them strictly”.
