SEPCO suspends XEN, six SDOs over line losses in Larkana

Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saeed Ahmed Dawach on Thursday held a meeting to review progress in the recovery of arrears and improvement in controlling line losses.

Reportedly, he also suspended executive engineer (X-En) Khalil Chandio and six sub-divisional officers including Jacobabad SDO Abdul Nabi Qureshi, Shaikh Zayed subdivision SDO Shah Muhammad Bajkani, Empire subdivision (Larkana) SDO Sain Bux Bajkani, Warah SDO Nazir Shaikh, Luqman subdivision SDO Nisar Shaikh and Rohri Salehpat SDO Kashif Shaikh for their failure in controlling electricity theft and performing duties in an effective manner.

Despite of the fact that massive corruption has ruined the entire SEPCO department, authorities have not formulated or implemented any policies to halt the damage.

Meanwhile, consumers continue to suffer prolonged power outages of up to 16 hours a day.

Despite orders of the Sindh High Court (SHC) which restrict SDOs to issue illegal electricity detection bills, SDOs have been observed to issue separate detection bills.

Consumers demanded a stern action against corrupt staff and officers in the department.
