The Atletico Madrid defender surprised everyone when he bashed Ballon d’Or committee for not selecting Lionel Messi in the final three. Luis who players for the rival club believes that FIFA Player of the Year award has lost its credibility as they omitted Messi from the final list.

“The award is for the best player in the world – and that today for me is Messi.”

Talking further about the gong he added “As in the past years. When he’s not there the award loses its credibility.

“It doesn’t matter if somebody wins the World Cup or the Champions League, he is the best.”

Messi was phenomenal in the last season as well but he just couldn’t manage to save Argentina from getting knocked out in the last sixteen.

Apart from that Messi helped Barcelona securing La Liga and Copa del Ray and that’s not all. Messi was the top goal scorer with 55 goals and also provided 18 assists.

Salah on the other hand managed to score 44 goals but he was missing in the WC which is the major reason he is not the favorite to win the gong this year.

It will be Ronaldo or Luka as both have won same number of trophies but Luka was breathtaking in the WC.
