The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on Tuesday, vowed that the people and the government of Pakistan would continue to give full moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) in their legitimate struggle to attain the inalienable right to self-determination.
Qureshi, while meeting the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan, discussed the current situation of the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The President congratulated him on his appointment as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan and briefed him about the human rights situation in the IHK.
Highlighting the findings of the report issued by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the President regretted that instead of addressing the concerns raised in the Report about the human rights violations in the IHK by the Indian occupation forces, India exacerbated its repression on the Kashmiris by imposing the Governor’s Rule and resorting to the brutal use of force.
Qureshi welcomed the recommendations of the OHCHR report to constitute a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to investigate the gross and systematic human rights violations in the IHK by the Indian forces.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the steps taken by his ministry and Pakistani missions abroad to underscore the importance of the OHCHR report and stated that Pakistan would continue to draw attention to the findings of the Report at all the international forums.
