RAWALPINDI: Punjab Law Minister, Raja Basharat, on Tuesday, said that changing the currently-existing Local Government (LG) system was not an easy task as the new law would be passed from the provincial assembly which would take time.
Basharat, while talking to this scribe, said that changing the LG system in Punjab was not as easy task and it would take time to implement the new system
The Ministry of Local Government and Community Development was working on the draft of the new law and then, it would be sent to the Ministry of Law for review and necessary amendments, he said. Basharat added that after the review by the Law Ministry, the final draft of the new law would be presented before the provincial assembly for the approval.
While answering a question Basharat said that a simple majority in the Punjab assembly would be required to pass the new law.
The sources said that the whole process of the approval of the new law would take enough time, whereas the Prime Minister Imran Khan was eagerly waiting to abolish the current system.
