ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar remarked on Tuesday that the samples of bottles recovered from Sharjeel Memon‘s room must have been changed by someone.

During a hearing session, Justice Nisar observed that people have reacted to my visit at Memon’s sub-jail in Karachi as if he (Memon) is living in the presidential suite.

Who took the samples? and who conducted the tests? he further questioned.

Someone must have changed the samples, CJP added.

If I were to investigate, CJP asserted, I would have arrested Memon and then conducted the tests by myself.

On Saturday, the top judge had paid a surprise visit to hospital rooms of three political prisoners including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Hassan Lawai and Abdul Ghani Majeed, the son of Omni Group owner Anwar Majeed. According to the CJP, he found drugs, cigarettes and liquor in Memon’s hospital room.

Following this incident, Memon was shifted from the hospital room to Karachi Central Prison and his blood samples were drawn while his room was sealed.

A case was lodged against Memon at Boat Basin police station, his driver and two servants.
