LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appealed to the citizens of Punjab to support the Punjab government in a jihad against fake medicines.
In a series of tweets, the chief minister strongly defended the recent amendments in the Drugs Act that call for the employment of a pharmacist at every pharmacy and the imposition of fines on people who fail to follow the rules set by the recent amendments.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the recent amendments are meant to stop production of spurious drugs and protect poor patients from the drug mafias and cartels.
He said that a poor patient dying from substandard medicines was as gruesome as the innocent killed by bullets. He said that manufacturers of spurious drugs will be strictly dealt with as thousands of lives fall prey to the drug mafia.
