KARACHI: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and it is our objective to make it a cradle of peace.
The minister made these remarks while addressing a ceremony at DOW University on Monday.
He said that Karachi serves as a backbone for the national economy and thus establishment of peace is necessary for sustaining economic activities.
He emphasised that making Karachi a cradle of peace was the aim of the government and both the federal and provincial governments would work together to achieve this objective.
Ahsan Iqbal also said that improvement in the field of education was the top priority of the government; therefore the government has increases the grant of higher education to Rs115bn.
He underscored that the federal government had launched motorway project in Sindh and Rs16bn green bus project would soon be completed and people would greatly benefit from this project.
