Sharjeel Inam Memon’s blood samples were drawn and sent to hospital for testing after the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) found bottles allegedly containing alcohol in his hospital room which had been previously declared as a ‘sub-jail’. A copy of the report of Aga Khan University hospital that Daily Times received clearly stated that PPP leader in the spotlight had not consumed any alcohol.
In a statement, Memon’s son Rawal Sharjeel Memon claimed that the blood test results consist of a 40 days alcohol test. “Who is responsible for the fake media trial and character assassination of my father,” asked Rawal Memon.
Earlier on Sunday, an investigation team was formed to investigate the discovery of liquor from Memon’s hospital room. Reportedly, the team has started collecting evidence, including records of closed circuit television (CCTV) footafe to ascertain the records of Memon’s visitors at his hospital room.
On Saturday, the top judge had paid a surprise visit to hospital rooms of three political prisoners including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Hassan Lawai and Abdul Ghani Majeed, the son of Omni Group owner Anwar Majeed. According to the CJP, he found drugs, cigarettes and liquor in Memon’s hospital room.
Following this incident, Memon was shifted from the hospital room to Karachi Central Prison and his blood samples were drawn while his room was sealed.
A case was lodged against Memon at Boat Basin police station, his driver and two servants.
