KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the private schools on Monday not to increase more than 5% tuition fee every year.

Earlier, the Parents Action Committee had approached the court against private schools who continue to increase tuition fees in violation of the rules.

A three-member bench observed today that it is illegal for private schools to increase their fees by more than 5% any given year when, on the other hand, private schools have already been restricted from increasing tuition fee by more than 5%.

On March 6, a two-judge SHC bench, comprising of Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Arshan Hussain Khan, had ordered private schools not to increase tuition fees beyond the 5% under the law.

The provincial education department was also instructed to submit quarterly reports on private schools’ audit and enforcement of its orders.
